4 Star Hotels
Expectations at this level include a degree of luxury
as well as quality in the furnishings, decor and equipment,
in every area of the hotel. Bedrooms will also usually offer
more space than at the lower star levels, and well designed,
co-ordinated furnishings and decor. The en-suite bathrooms
will have both bath and fixed shower. There will be a high
enough ratio of staff to guests to provide services like porterage,
24-hour room service, laundry and dry-cleaning. The restaurant
will demonstrate a serious approach to its cuisine
Percentage scores - what they mean
The percentage score denotes the quality of the facilities
and services at each star rating, and is based on the inspector's
personal experience at the time of his/her visit. It enables
guests to distinguish degrees of quality at hotels of the
same star rating.
Outstanding Quality
These are hotels awarded the AA's supreme award and are made
annually to a select number of hotels as a recognition of
excellence within their star rating. For hotels to earn it,
they must consistently provide outstanding levels of hospitality,
service, food and comfort.
High Quality
A score greater than 70 per cent indicates a very good hotel,
which is strongly recommended for achieving excellent standards
in most areas of the operation.
